Do I have acid reflux?
Typically heartburn is in the upper chest and some people wake up in the middle of the night being choked by reflux acid.
Although mine involves a headache at the back of my head, lightheadedness, nausea, my whole body becomes sore, my 'teeth' become sore- feels like I've been clenching them all day, loss of concentration and a white/sometimes yellow layer on my tongue. The white layer on my tongue isn't candida, I had a tongue scrape and the results showed it's acid from my stomach.
After a night of hard partying (drinking) my throat can get swollen and I find it hard to swallow. Generally the morning after a hard partying night isn't that bad unless I do something which provokes the symptoms. I find after I can only drink something with sugar in it, a limited quantity of milk's alright too, my stomach feels like a cauldron and drinking water is the added ingredient which makes it bubble and boil. After that I get all the symptoms described above.
Went for a gastroscopy and my cardiac valve (valve between your oesophagus and stomach) is always a bit open, so acid can always go through.
Pretty much control it through diet and habit. I've tried at least half a dozen medications and nothing has helped. Is it perhaps not acid reflux that I have, but something else?
woops, it's the lower oesophageal sphincter not cardiac valve!!
