Short sharp pains in the left side of brain/head?

So, every once in a while I'll get a sharp shooting pain the left side of my brain. Its pretty intense, it almost feels like something is going to burst, sometimes after it ends (it only lasts a second or so) I get goosebumps/a tingling sensation through the top part of my body and my head/brain. I'm wondering if this could be a bad sign. I have pretty intense OCD, maybe that could be involved?

hi, my name is sally i have had these every so often like once or twice a year since i was little. they started from the base of the cerebral. just as i mentioned above. as the years progressed a few more added here and there. i am 57 yrs. old now pretty healthy. i am 5'5" 123 lbs. female. i use to exercise, but have been going through a lot of changes. Yesterday, July 1, 2009, i counted 19 of these episodes. i had 6 of them driving from Fresno, CA. to our Carmel, CA home which is about 3 hrs. away. i started driving and had to pull over. Got really bad. I thought it was over today....8 during the day. I have had about 7 episodes in the last 2 hours that i am trying to ignore. my brother wants me to go for MRI. to tell you the truth i have told doctors about this all my life and they look at me like i am a nut. so i just don't want to be told there is nothing wrong with me.
