What are the signs of diabetes?

Diabetes run in my family. My grandma has diabetes my great grandma has diabetes. I got really dizzy today when I woke up. I knew my blood sugar was low. But I would like to know what symptoms are. And should I tell my dr that my blood sugar way low?
